What's New...

Latest Trail Updates & Additions:

  • March 2021, updates: Cross Seminole Trail
We revisited the final gap on the Cross Seminole Trail in Winter Springs and consider it essentially completed. While the trail itself has a gap at a railroad crossing that awaits completion, a detour provides for continuous paved biking on new trail and roads from the previous end at Layer Elementary School to the powerlines The dirt road is gone!!

  • February 2021, updates: Maitland Bike Route
Maitland is doing a good job enhancing its biking experience, with a well-marked network of Bike Routes that makes navigating easy. We mapped out a 5-mile loop, mostly along the posted Bike Routes, that packs a lot into its length including 5 city parks. A big addition is the East-West Connector (under construction) which includes a bridge over I-4 that will link the east and west sides of town.

  • December 2020, new trail added: Bumby Path - Orlando
Multi-use path from E. Colonial Drive to Corrine Drive, part of the Orlando Bicycle Beltway. Crosses the connector route between Cady Way Trail and Orlando Urban Trail.

  • December 2020, updates: Sanford Riverwalk, trail extension
We viewed the new construction underway from Central Florida Hospital to Monroe Rd. where the Riverwalk connects to the Cross Seminole Trail, part of the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail. Separated from West Seminole Blvd. by a wide buffer and curbside parking, roundabouts will also help calm the traffic.

  • November 2020, updates: Cross Seminole Trail through Winter Springs
We visited from the SR434 bridge, to Layer Elementary School. There's a new trailhead at Winter Springs Town Center, providing parking and access to amenities at the Town Center. New residential construction along the route was notable. Along SR 434, the trees have matured nicely providing welcome shade.

  • November 2020, new trail added: Ward Park, Winter Park
Pleasant park with many sports facilities, biking/walking trail, fitness trail. Links to Cady Way Trail via a cycle track.

  • October 2020, new trail added: Mead Garden, Winter Park
Biking/hiking paths, boardwalk. A paved trail through Mead Garden links to the Orlando Urban Trail.

  • August 2020, updates: Kissimmee Lakefront Park
Paved one-mile trail along Lake Tohopekaliga. Kissimmee has done a great job renovating the park.
