Originally built as separate trails, the South Lake Trail and Minneola Scenic-Clermont Trails connect with the West Orange Trail to create more than 30 miles of continuous Central Florida bike riding in Lake and Orange Counties, to include the towns of Minneola, Clermont, Oakland, Winter Garden, Ocoee and Apopka. Future plans include linking with the Van Fleet Trail to the west. (More photos, detailed map, and commentary below.)

Located on the central Florida sand ridge, this Central Florida biking trail sports the highest elevations of any rail-trail in the state, with many hills for a more challenging ride. This is a particularly scenic ride, with views along Lake Minneola and other lakes and sweeping vistas on the sand ridges. A nearby on-road trip is to tackle Sugarloaf Mountain, the highest point in Central Florida at 312 feet above sea level. This is a popular motorcycle route, be careful.

Clermont Trailhead to Minneola Trailhead
Clermont Waterfront Park on Lake Minneola has restrooms, picnicking, swimming area, and fishing piers. Minneola Trailhead Park has parking, ball fields, basketball court, playground, picnic areas. A pleasant shaded ride, this is one of the few trails with streetlights.

Minneola Trailhead to Killarney Station (West Orange Trail)
This section features open vistas and some challenging hills on the sand ridges. The hills and more challenging biking make this a popular location for triathletes in training - the Hancock Extension leads to the National Training Center. The ride can be strenuous, be sure to bring water and a power snack. The 1.5 mile section west of Killarney Station is shaded with some nice hills and turns.
