Pleasant Hill Road Recreational Pathway...

Osceola County Roadside Biking

The paved path is part of the Osceola County pedestrian and biking plan. The pathway follows the east side of Pleasant Hill Road about 8 miles from US 17-92 (S. Orange Blossom Trail) in Kissimmee to Cypress Parkway at Poinciana. While not a recreational destination, this is a neighborhood trail connecting residential areas with shopping, restaurants, and schools along the route. (Map and photos below.)

Biking on Pleasant Hill Road Recreational Pathway... Comments and Photos

Pleasant Hill Road is a busy road with no bike lanes. The pathway is more of a glorified sidewalk (there are no trail markings). The Pleasant Hill Road Recreational Pathway was originally built as a "recreational bike trail" located out in the country, away from town with very little traffic. Only about 5 years ago, it still had rural characteristics with fields and cattle. Road bikes especially were seen taking advantage of the long straightaways . Those days are gone. Now lined with residential and commercial development, and more under construction, there are many driveways and road crossings. Today, it's a useful commuter path for sure, but we would no longer refer to it as a "recreational" pathway.

We toured the Pathway from south to north. Starting from Osceola Pkwy., the Pathway crosses a bridge over Reedy Creek. The remainder of the path goes past residential developments and businesses. There still are a couple of undeveloped fields, but even those have for sale signs posted.
